Buying alternative domains is crucial because you don’t want to damage your main domain’s reputation. After years of testing, we’ve got the right formula for cold outreach, and it begins with the domain setup. So, here’s how to do it. 👇

1.1 Choose Hosting Platform 🌐

For a high-quality hosting platform, we recommend you choose GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Cloudflare. They’re all user-friendly and can be easily navigated.

1.2 Sign Up & Create an Account 📝

After you choose a hosting platform, sign up and create an account so you can easily browse for alternate domains. 

1.3 Check Blacklist Status 🚫

Once you check if your alternate domain is available, our advice is to use the MXToolbox or DNS Checker to see if, by any chance, the domain of your choice is blacklisted. If not, you can proceed and buy your domain.

1.4 Buy a Domain 💳

After you’ve made sure the domain is available and not blacklisted, you should go ahead and secure a plan. You should also make sure to turn off domain protection, disable the website creation option, and don’t buy mailboxes from the hosting provider.

💡 Pro tip 1: Your alternative domain names should be similar to your main domain or associated with it. It's a good idea not to use your main domain for cold outreach to avoid the risk of it being blacklisted. Instead, buy domains that are variations of your main domain.

This approach ensures your main domain remains safe while you effectively manage your outreach with these alternate domains.

💡 Pro tip 2: Go for a professional-looking domain name that is similar to your main domain and matches your brand or business. Avoid long and complicated domain names and opt for something short and memorable. Lastly, don’t use numbers, special characters, or hyphens.

💡 Pro tip 3: We recommend using top-level domains such as .com, .net, or .co domains for better deliverability. If your brand or business operates in a specific country, you can use a country-specific domain (e.g., .uk or .fr), which can also be beneficial.

💡 Pro tip 4: Opt for a one-year plan: Commit for just one year rather than three or more to avoid accidentally getting blacklisted and spending additional funds on a larger plan.
